ACCEPTANCE OF SELF IS THE BEGINNING OF TRANSFORMATION
For the solo exhibition entitled "FACE FEAR", Machen selected himself as the primary subject for the first time. Machen prints his own image using hues from a secondary-color palette of orange, green and purple. He applies color in a unique way that abstracts his own face, making his image almost unrecognizable, challenging commonly accepted ideas of race and self identity.
Machen created a collection of 16 different images. Each prints is an original 1/1 edition, measuring 26" X 28".
